Solar Power Systems for Businesses

Aussie business owners can have extremely high energy costs. This can be a heavy bill to pay out of business profits and with electricity prices soaring this can only increase.

Imagine if you didn’t have this large bill? I’m sure you could find somewhere else to spend this hard earn business profit. If your business premise has a vast amount of sunny roof space, then you may want to consider installing Solar and saving those funds.

If you have a long-term lease on your premises it is still viable to add Solar. Say you have a 10 year lease on a building. Your electricity costs are $5000 a quarter. You install a 30kW system for $35000. You are looking at a return on investment of approximately 2 years. You will have 8 years of emission free, cost free power.

Solar panels have a production of over 80% efficiency for 25-30 years. Once the return on investment has been reached you could potentially have 28 years of free green electricity, increasing your profit margins. If your business runs at night, there may be further benefits to adding batteries to reduce peak, wholesale electricity prices. As well as saving money, you can promote your business as being environmentally friendly.

Case Study – Plus Fitness

As the manager of Plus Fitness I was approached by a un-named solar company and given a quote to install a 60kW system on my roof for $60 000. I thought this sounded reasonable but wanted to be sure I was doing the right thing with such an expensive outlay.

After a thorough inspection Travis quickly discovered that my roof space only allowed for 134 panels or a 35kW Solar system due North. Meaning that if I was to upsize to 60kW the rest of the panels would be facing South. Not producing much if any power.

With my monthly electricity bill being over $2000, I knew Solar was going to work for me. We went ahead with a 35Kw System with 134 panels and 2 Fronius 3 Phase Inverters.

I was very happy with my first bill being $180 in credit. This has now potentially saved me $24000 per year and the system will pay itself off in two years.

Additionally, the inverters are warranted for 10 years and the panels for 25 years.

This system will save me a minimum of $120K or as much as $192K during the warranty period, plus much more in the years to come.
