CHANGES TO THE SMALL SCALE TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATES (STCS)

Here are a few words to explain the recent changes to the Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

The Government has decided to phase out the STCs at a rate of 1/15 every year until 2030. This change has come into action to encourage the population to change to solar electricity sooner rather than later. Depending on the size of a solar system that a family home needs, the loss of 1/15th of the STCs equates to about $400 every year. This means that by 2030 a standard 6kW rooftop solar system will cost $10 854 and after December 31st 2030 there will be NO grant given and no STCs. So, in 2031 the price of a 6KW system will be approx $11 500.

With this in mind we believe the best option is to install a 6+ kW system with a battery while the rebate is still available. In 7-10 years, if battery prices come down or if the technology improves, your oversized solar panel design will last more than another 20 years and be compatible with new technology.

The STC rebate scheme is based on how many STCs your Solar system is entitled to. This is based on your total solar panel output and not the size of your inverter or battery. This can be cost effective for you if you decide to purchase solar panels and a regular inverter as you still get the same amount of rebate-STCs as someone who purchased the more expensive products. This means your return of investment will be much shorter.

HOW MUCH CAN YOU EXPECT TO SAVE/EARN WITH A STANDARD 5KW HOME SOLAR SYSTEM IF YOU’RE LIVING IN CENTRAL QUEENSLAND?

Solar is a great way to save money. It even earns money for a lot of our customers. With the summer finally here the electricity companies get to line their pockets once again with our hard-earned cash.

But there is no need to be throwing this much money away on electricity. Here in QLD & Northern NSW we have the perfect conditions to maximize the intake of power through solar. Most of Australia is lucky in that respect but we have it particularly good in these Northern states.

Here's why…

300 days of sun and clear skies. If you live anywhere between the Gold Coast & the Sunshine Coast you can expect great sunny weather more than 85% of the time. A 5kW system installed on a roof in Surfers Paradise or Palm Beach is going to bring a much greater ROI (Return on Investment) as opposed to the exact same system installed on a rooftop in Melbourne's' CBD.

Most home systems will peak perform when the sky is clear and the temp falls between 20-30 degrees Celsius. We have more sun more consistently than any other part of Australia while not being hit by the extreme heats that other parts of the country are subjected to. We live in the perfect climate for solar. In the industry we call this the solar sweet spot.

IS SOLAR THE SOLUTION TO AUSTRALIA'S EVER INCREASING ELECTRICITY BILL?

Every year our energy costs increase. These endless increases in utilities is nothing new. In fact, it has been so commonplace in the last ten years that we hardly blink an eyelid anymore when we are told a little more of our pay is going to be syphoned from our bank account.

We at HaySolar are not sure who to blame. But we do have some ideas about a solution.

Sunlight is free. For now at least. If your tired of paying these outrageous energy prices and to be hit every year with yet another hike or usage surcharge, then our 6kW solar energy system might be answer you are looking for.

Our high performance 6kW solar kits are enough to kill the energy bill of most Australian households and small businesses. Larger systems are available for bigger business or for those interested in selling power back to the grid. No that is not a joke...a lot of our customers actually earn money from their systems. Imagine that. An electricity company paying you.
